Flat pack outdoor sets often ship in several cartons that turn up separately. Begin assembly with two of the three and you can end up half built with no screws, waiting on a courier.

All the required screws are in box 1, and the instruction is to wait until all three boxes have arrived before starting. They also ask that no screw is fully tightened until every hole lines up.

A different kind of weave

The rattan here is woven as an open lattice rather than a tight basket, so light passes through the frames. It is the same PE material, just used in a pattern that makes a heavy set look lighter on a small deck.

Sizes, boxes and a warning

Corner sofas are 29 in square and 25 in tall with a 13 in seat. The ottoman and the table are both 25 in square and 13 in high. Each seat and the ottoman take 350 lb; the table takes 170 lb. Box 1 holds every screw.

The ottoman's three jobs

Footrest, extra seat at 350 lb, or a surface once the cushion is off. The cushion is held by a horn button and an elastic rope rather than sitting loose, so you loosen it rather than just lifting.

The maker sketches the set as a straight run, a facing pair, a compact corner and a long L. The four fastener clips then hold whichever one you settle on.

How do I take the ottoman cushion off?

Loosen the horn button and the elastic rope that hold it. That is the maker's own instruction, and it is why the cushion stays put in wind.

Will the cushion colour match the photographs exactly?

The maker says it can vary slightly with the light. Treat the images as a guide to the tone rather than an exact match.

Do the clips have to be used?

No. They are there when you want the run held together. The pieces work loose on their adjustable anti slip pads if you prefer to move them around.
